Seven years ago, we started asking readers to use their creativity to turn the candy into art.
Through the years, we’ve received dozens of photos of Peeps projects that have covered sports, religion, politics, pop culture and just about everything in between.
We had 10 entries in our annual Peeps contest this year. Dioramas included nods to “Bob’s Burgers,” “The Hunger Games,” and Three Mile Island.
We received hundreds of votes on our Facebook page. The top four vote-getters will each receive a $75 gift card from Peeps & Company to buy their fill of sugary sweets and Peeps merchandise.
Congratulations to our winners:
First place
Our first-place honor goes to the LIU Life Skills class at Dallastown High School. In their entry, the group wrote: “Students highlighted three areas of their lives where they can keep fit. At school, there are a variety of sports opportunities. Students showcased swimming, tennis, basketball, track sports and flying a kite. At the gym, Peeps are lifting weights and doing aerobics with Richard Simmons, making sure to always drink plenty of water. At home, Peeps get lots of sleep, eat well and stay active by gardening and walking the dog.”
Second place
Gwen Partlow of Red Lion created our second-place diorama. She writes: “A busy PEEP/MAX agent makes another peep family’s homeownership dream come true. SOLD!”
Third place
In third place is Melissa Jacoby Thomas of Dillsburg. She said in her entry: “It has been 35 years since “partial meltdown” at Peep Mile Island and members of the Peeps community don’t “sugarcoat” the details when recalling the historic events of March 28th, 1979.”
Fourth place
And finally, in fourth place, we have Dorothy Bensel’s “Easter Egg Hunt at the Playground” entry. Thanks to all who took the time to build some creative dioramas and to our hundreds of contest voters! Happy Easter from Smart magazine.
